Where to get USAREUR license stateside!?

We are PCSing to Germany and need to have the USAEUR license. I have heard that we can get while we are still stateside. Has anyone heard this and know where we can get one. I would like to get it done before we go so that is one less thing we have to worry about THANK YOU

    Conatact the Vehicle Registration office for the Base you are PCSing to. They usually can provide you with the study materials for a USAEUR certificate. Your Active Duty spouse should also email or call his/her sponsor at the gaining base for this information. THey should help you, that is what they are there for. ALso follow the link I provided. You can get all the info there.

    BTW, It is no longer a License,

    What many U.S. military personnel in Germany refer to as the “USAREUR license” is actually the U.S. Forces Certificate of License, and it states right on the front that it’s for United States Forces in Germany.

    I highly recommend once you get your USAREUR certificate of license, you go to the local authorities and pay for a International license. Much cheaper than paying for one in the US and typically the US issued Internation license is good for only one year. In Europe you can get international licenses from local authorities, and the cost is between 12 and 20 euros. In Germany, USAREUR driver testing stations on base have information about where you can get the permits in your area. Requirements differ from country to country, but include:

    A valid U.S. forces driver’s license;

    Two passport-size photos taken in civilian clothes;

    A U.S. passport (required for civilians and family members).

    The international permits cannot be used in the issuing country.

    You CANNOT get your driver's lic. stateside. Some misinformed you or you misunderstood. You can get the driving manual at your base or post Family Support Center. But you must attend the briefings and take the test in Germany to get your DL.

    And DO study hard! The road signs are very different, as are some basic rules of the road.

    When we went to germany 3 years ago, we could not get it until we got there. You will get a driving manual during inprocessing and will be assigned a time/place to take it.
