Samsung HDTV with HDMI cable no sound?

Samsung HDTV model: LN32A450C1D

When I plug in the HDMI cable and switch the input to HDMI, there is no sound. Picture fine, no sound.

Yes I have tried the other HDMI ports. Called Samsung and they said buy a new cable, but I have looked online and seen that other people had the same issue, but nobody had a clear response on how to fix.

Thanks!

Update:

It sounds like you've troubleshot the tv pretty well. Perhaps it's time to backwards troubleshoot. You say you've switched the cable box to every HDMI input on the television. Maybe it's not the television...maybe it's the cable box itself.

Do you have another item with an HDMI input to test this? Perhaps like an Xbox 360, PS3 or DVD player? If any of these work on the HDMIs that the cable box doesn't work on it means the cable box is bad and not the television.

A while back (while researching which tv to buy) I remember reading that there were a few HD TVs out there that had 'issues' with compatibility in regards to HDMI from the cable box.

Also, does your cable box have a TOSLINK (digital audio out) connection? And if so, does your television have one, too? If so, that might be another way around the HDMI problems.

    Hope this helps.

A defective cable is a possibility. They can be had cheap enough so it is worth a try. Here is one for $3.98 http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id...

If that doesn't solve the problem then call Samsung again. Also, try to verify that the cable box is ok (as suggested by the first answer).

While HDTVs have Toslink or coax digital audio outputs, they may not have digital audio inputs, and that set doesn't. In any case, if you have HDMI you should not need that, and you should get the HDMI working.

connect the blu-ray and cable field to receiver utilising ingredient cables. that's in the experience that your cable field is HD. If it is not then use composite. Use HDMI from the receiver to the television. The swap is interior the receiver. you ought to regulate inputs from cable to blu-ray or vice-versa.
