There's been others...so why is this election being termed "the most important election of a lifetime"?

Important not just because of a Black nominee but because of all the problems America faces. The war, terrorism, the economy, drilling for oil, the environment, immigration, health care, etc. We have lot of problems that need to be addressed. Not an easy job for anyone and neither candidate can do all that they have said they will do. It's just not possible.

I think the republican party has been going in a direction of total control for a long time and when bush was elected they got that power and control, they stripped safeguards that keep a balanced government and debate about things like the war.

This election is about changing the direction of the country and I believe it is the party more then the candidates McCain is the republican party and Barack is the democrat party.

Republicans support big oil by giving tax breaks to the oil company's at a time when they make record profits and we pay record prices, Why do u think palin was chosen? not because she looks good but there is oil and gas reserves in her state Alaska that Bush wanted to get his hands, and condaliza rice had an oil tanker named after her, that is her background many people in the party have worked in big oil in the private sector and pick battles with countries with oil reserves who we do not own Russia, Venezuela, Iran. They also support the top corporations who even when they fail ceos get huge a bonus and average joe gets to empty out his desk.

This is a fight for the middle class, working poor, and poor cause the money just does not trickle down, if u make over a hundred thou a year you do not need to worry about high gas prices, higher food bills and basics like school supplies and clothes

Joe the plumber is worried if he makes over 200k per year he will have higher taxes.

Middle to lower wage earners have to worry about house payments, food, paying car insurance not to mention health dental and education.

Some people are fooled into voting against their best interest and this election is about those who have figured it out - and those who are rich and or those who have not figured it out

the next president, who ever it is, will have the privilege of commanding World War 3

Cause, this is the first time there has been a real chance, for a black man to become president.

it is a choice this time between starting ww3 or going bankrupt.

It isn't. It's very "historic" as we have black man running for president this time.
