What helped you or someone you know to stop smoking?

I want to quit, but don't have what ever it takes. Any help out there?

I smoke also. But not as much as i used too. I read somewhere online that if you drink lots of water it takes your cravings away from nictoine. the only thing that is extremely hard is breaking the habit of always having something in your mouth and your hand. Do something else with your hands. Like biting on a pencil or a straw. But dont use gum. Gum just makes you want to smoke. And chocolate also helps. Because its very gross having chocolate then smoking afterwards. And dont read that book that allen carr wrote. It will put you in shock. Its a bad book. And he doesnt know what he was really talking about in the book because he didnt go through with all that he said, coz he got hypnotized. And thats also a very bad thing to do. Or try sucking on a sucker. Just drink lots of water though, it will help you out.

Encouragement, I have a mother that smokes and the more she smokes I kept telling her in the long run it isn't going to do that good. Maybe you need a motivational speech. Something to keep you going and just try tell your self im going to just stop for one day and see how you feel the next. Replace some fun activities in between so your not thinking about having a cigarette break. Also think what smoking is going to do to you in the long run is it really worth the risk of your life. Thinking of something you really want to see from 10-20 years right now. Such as I want to see the next 4 presidents in my lifetime or whatever your into. This may sound weird but have fun with it and what I mean by that don't be all down because you feel cigarettes were the best thing in your life. Just keep going and look forward to things. You would also have something to brag about the new and improved you. Good luck and quiting is a nice new start.

I don't know any pills other than the aforementioned Welbutrin or Zyban. I used the Commit Lozenges and have been smoke free for 18 months after smoking for 30 years. Don't ever want another cig. Good luck. (Best way is cold turkey)

My dad used to smoke and since we got pets he started losing the habit and he does not smoke now. You may think about what will happen to your anatomy, like what you lungs would look like. And smoking affects not just an organ but multiple organs. Just picture that.... Good luck hope you could stop as early as now :)

what will help the most is having support, if have a friend who also smokes and wants to quit- try and do it together, or join a group or just get a friend to hlp you out. Also theres loads of substitues like nicotine patches but i will also help if when you feel like smoking to do something with a similar motion like sucking a lollypop, sounds daft but it really will help and tricks your brain into thinking your smoking.

hope it helps and good luck

    :)

In my case, divine grace played a large part in switching off the desire magically. So, if you are destined to quit, you will.
