Porsche turns over but no spark?

My porsche 944 turns over but there is no spark. I changed out the motor(the original lost a rod). originally I got spark but no fuel, the injectors were plugged. I could get it to run on starting fluid. I replaced the injectors and now I get no spark from the coil.Is there a way to check the position sensors that take the timing off the flywheel to see if they are working. other checks that can be done to eliminate "checking by replacement" investment?

Update:

the ohm reading for the coil is within specs. there are two position sensors on the bell housing for the flywheel. That signal the spark.is there a similar test to determine weather these are functioning properly. how do I determine correct location for each as these are similar in characteristic to each other

id say replace coil but you can bump motor over and for at timing mark on the front of motor down by bottom pulley then lift rotor cap and see where the rotor button is pointing and see if its at number one plug if not bump it over againg and recheck and if its not then its out of time but still a spark you should get so id replace coil
