why are some animals pets and others food?

Because cat doesn't taste good. Pigs and cows, however, taste good and are cute. So they fall into the "pets and/or food" category.

If you're going for the whole "you don't eat your pets, so eating animal is wrong" approach, it won't work, because i know people who have pet pigs, and also eat pork.

well,, some are pets here.. and are food elsewhere..

like cats and dogs they are pets here but food else where

guinea pigs are pets here but food elsewhere

cows are food here but sacred animals elsewhere

scientists estimate that in 50 years we will be eating cats and dogs here too if we dont get our population growth under control and have been warning people to only have one kid for YEARS..

I have many types of animals as pets that some people would want to eat.. chickens and sheep..

but I have rare breed sheep so hopefully not food

Because some animals need looking after and can't live by them selves and other animals Have to be in the wild because of their habitat size and stuff even though they will die.. If that's what you mean?
