  • Clarification on FWS [federal work study] programs?

I'm looking to do a federal work study program at my school, as a freshman. I've just got a question that I can't seem to find an answer for: The money I earn in the program, does that go only to my tuition, or is it deposited into a bank account for other things, like bills?

  • Let's play: Name That Hairstyle!?

I'm trying to find this certain haircut, but to no avail, since I don't know the name. It's typically popular amongst the punk scene. Its a woman haircut. It's short on one side, not really shaved, like 2 inches long, maybe. On the other side, it starts out that short in the back, but comes to long bangs. The hair on top is parted at the side, and goes towards the side with long bangs. It's not a chelsea girl haircut, it's not shaved and it's not just the bangs that are long- the whole top of the lead is long, it's just parted to the side. It's almost like an a line, except one side is only and inch long, and the angle is more extreme than an A-line.

Also, if there isn't a name, pictures would be nice.

  • Catherine Chalmer's work?

She is famous, for among other things, having photographs of cockroaches in terrible situations- being crucified, burned at the stake, hung, etc. Does anyone know if the bugs are alive when she does this? And if not, does she kill them in order to do it?

  • Tax help- more than one job?

In 2008 I had 2 jobs, so obviously I have 2 W2s. When filing my taxes, and it asks for box 3, for example, is it cumulative? Like when it asks for my yearly income, or how much SS tax was withheld, do I just add the different numbers from the w2s together?

  • Ingredients in hookah- as bad as cigarettes?

With all the "know" ads and other anti-smoking non-profits, everyone knows that cigarettes contain tar, cyanide, ammonia, and other ridiculous chemicals. They also contain nicotine, which makes them addictive.

Does hookah carry these same ingredients?

  • Can I remove my mother from our joint bank account?

I got my first job when I was 16, and at that time, my mother took me to her bank, and opened up a joint account, so I could have direct deposit. Since then, I've moved out of the house and started taking care of myself, literally 4 states, and 900 miles away. She has gotten herself into some financial trouble, and its been on more than one occasion that the bank has taken money out of my account [that is also in her name] to cover her NSF fees and overdrafts. I can understand their reasoning, but that account is funded solely by me, and as a college student on their own, i need all the money that i make. I've been wanting to take her name off of the account, so that it is solely mine, but she tells me that it isn't possible, even though i'm over 18, because i'm not 24. Is she right, or am i able to take her off the account, or at least get my own to avoid the suffering from her financial problems?

  • What is this music video?

I remember this video, from a girl singer, on MTV not too long ago. It was in this one room house thing, and the colors were either really bland or black and white. Then there was this hear, maybe a necklace, that dropped on the ground, and color exploded from it, then there was a bunch of paint splatter everywhere and everything was colorful.... And she played the piano

  • Can anyone help me figure out this song?

I work at Bath and Body Works. On our Winter CD, there is this song that we haven't played before [at least i don't think.] It's got a beat, very simple, not too loud, and then it has a soprano [very, very high pitched] singer. The song is melodious, sort of slow, angelic and beautiful. I can't understand anything she's singing, really, or i'd Google the lyrics. I think, at one point, she says "from up above", but i really can't tell. any idea who this might be? Even a list of super soprano singers would be good, thanks.

  • Your opinion on interior design schools in chicago?

I'm currently living in the northwest suburbs. I started taking architecture classes at a local college, and found it wasn't what i was looking for. I've decided and realized i'd be much more happy studying and pursuing a career in interior design. I have to stay in the Chicago area, and the closer to the north side the better. does anyone know anything about interior design schools in the area, either from experience, or word of mouth, or reading a book or article?

An acquaintance of mine recently turned me on to Circa Survive. Are there any songs you would recommend that are their best/most known? I really like them, and i want to know what is a must hear.

And, If you're just going to be a douche and trash talk the band, don't waste your time- no one gives a damn about your opinion.

  • Classcal mythology in the modern world?

For my final project in my classical mythology class, our professor is requiring that we do an analysis of classical mythology in the modern world. We can either make a website, write a standard research paper, or do a visual portfolio where the bulk of our evidence is photographs and pictures.

Our project is supposed to focus on the effect classical mythology has on anything in modern times, and then lead to a revelation. For example, i had the idea to analyze advertisements in young women/fashion magazines, like cosmo girl or elle, and find the most used figure. that would be the analyze the effect part. My revelation was going to be an explanation on how that reflected how the magazines view their readers. Say Aphrodite was the most common figure in women magazines. I could then assume that meant that the editors thought that love and beauty would appeal best to the readers, and then make an analysis of the readers' morals.

The problem is, i would have to go through thousands of magazines just to find 30 references or so, and who's to say theres a strong majority after that?

I need subject areas that are obviously influenced by classical mythology. Advertisements, general media, movies, books, [even specific books would be great], tattoos, television, etcetera. Does anyone have any good ideas?

  • What alphabet do these languages belong to?

I know there are 2 main phonetic alphabets: Roman [used in languages like English and Italian] and Cyrillic[used in Russian and Bulgarian, etc]. What about Portuguese, and French? I know they have characters like the Roman Alphabet, but they have different letters, like the "ç". Is it still considered the roman alphabet?

  • Old animated movie about airplane flying rodents?

There was an old animated movie, in color, about these 3 rodents, like, a squirrel and chipmunk and a rabbit or something like that, who had to go on this adventure to save something. They flew, i believe, a red airplane with a yellow propeller. [I only remember that part because of a magnet a friend had as a child]. It's not the rescuers down under, nor chip n dale and the rescue rangers, but i think it was around that time period.

  • COMPAQ Presario Computer Help?

I have a COMPAQ Presario V5306US notebook, i've had it for a while and it has been amazing. recently, though, its been acting up. I don't know if its a virus or not, but its on the fritz. When i start the computer normally, the windows load screen will come on ["windows" with the flag and the blue load bar], then an orange screen that says "compaq", and next should be the blue screen with the different users listed. Except now, it stops at the orange compaq screen, and won't go on to let me log on. I ran it in safe mode, and tried system restore, but it wouldn't let me do that. It keeps saying the system restore had failed. Also, if it sits in safemode for too long, it will shut its self down, and a blue screen will pop up saying that windows encountered an error, and had to shut down. It will keep trying to restart its self, but the blue screen will pop up, it'll shut down, restart, blue screen, etc.

Has anyone had this problem before, or have any advice, or know of a computer repair place in chicago area?
