pendulum question!!!!!?

A ball of mass 20.0 g is launched horizontally from a height of 1.66 m. It is observed to travel 3.49 m horizontally. What was the initial speed of the ball?

What is the initial momentum of the ball?

What is the initial kinetic energy of the ball?

If the ball is instead launched at a pendulum of mass 103.0 g and makes a perfectly inelastic collision, how fast is the pendulum+ball going immediately after the collision?

What is the kinetic energy of the pendulum+ball immediately after the collision?

What is the maximum height obtained by the pendulum+ball?

To do the first part, work out how long the ball took to fall 1.66 m. It was launched horizontally, so it had zero velocity in the vertical direction. And its horizontal velocity didn't change, of course. Knowing v, you can calculate momentum and KE.

To do the second part, remember in an inelastic collision momentum is conserved but energy isn't and the two objects stick together. Work out how much KE the pendulum+ball combination has. Now at the end of the swing, all that KE is converted to PE. The amount of PE gained will give you the height of swing.

well..the best way to find all these is..take a 20.0g ball..throw it in the air..and start the stopwatch..wait till it drops on ur head..20g isnt that much..hopefuly ull susvive to stop the stopwatch..get a Police speed measuring radar,to measure its speed..call in local athorities.

and the pendulum+ball will go as fast as u throw the ball..(ideal conditions apply)

get a height measuring camera crew,,they will tell u the average height

maybe a highspeed camera would be more helpful.. FU*CK the Equations..enjoy life
