Should I replace my cmos battery in my old desktop motherboard, or should I buy a more recent motherboard? ?
My old P4X400-8235 motherboard has been with me for more than 5 years. 2 days ago, it has a cmos error, making me retype its settings. when I powered it off and rebooted again, it has the same cmos error. after consulting other forums and website about the cmos problem, I discovered that it's battery is already dying. my motherboard is pretty old, so should I replace the battery of my old motherboard or should I buy another one?

I don't see why you would buy another motherboard if the current one serves you well. It's not like the CMOS batteries are that expensive anyway. You won't be getting any performance boost from a better motherboard, and seeing as it's 5 years old, if you upgraded your PC you would need a new motherboard anyway (For different sockets and slots), so buying one to replace what you have would just go to waste when you upgrade.
