Do you have an Archos media player? If so can you help.?
I have an Archos 605 wifi. I am wanting to buy a new Micro hifi with hard drive. I want to connect my Archos to it to transfer files. Does anyone have a hifi which connects directly with an archos? If so which one. If not how can I connect it as most only seem to work with I pods. I am not very computer literate...as you can no doubt tell, so make answers easy.

I have an Archos 605 WiFi, so you are in luck!
If you want to transfer files from the hi-fi to the Archos, there are two ways of doing it:-
1) If your hi-fi also has a wireless router/hard drive, simply activate the wireless on both hi-fi and Archos; Archos will pick up the hi-fi and bingo - using the 'files' tab in the Archos, you can transfer to and from the player.
2) As your hi-fi, having a hard drive, must also have a USB port, you can use the optional Archos 605 charging dock (£29.99 - NOT the TV dock, that is something totally different).... this dock has a USB port/cable also, so you can connect the dock's USB cable into the hi-fi's USB port, and again, under the 'files' tab, the Archos can take/send files as you wish.
As for a specific hi-fi, I could not tell you one. If you mean a hi-fi that has a dock (like an iPod dock) for an Archos - forget it. Only iPod docks exists, and for all other players you have to use the 3.5mm jack to connect hi-fi and media player.
In summary:
If you want to transfer files only, use one of the two methods above. If you want to actually play files from the Archos, method 1 may work depending on the wireless connection type of the hi-fi, otherwise you need to connect the Archos headphone port to the hi-fi via a 3.5mm stereo jack (gold plated, about £9.99, for quality.)
