Is there a limit to the amount of luggage that's brought onto an airplane(assuming extra cost is not a factor?

    yes! you have to check with the airline, most airlines do not allow bags over 100lbs (for some destination it's 70lbs) and that's even if you're ready to pay the overweight fees so be sure to check the baggage allowance policy. When travelling coach (with AA) you're allowed to check 2 bags (a maximum of 3 excess pieces will be accepted with a fee)
