Does your priest, minister, clergy, or whomever does the talking at your church seem to always ask for money? ?

I attend a Catholic church, the structure isn't that old, and suits it's purpose, but the priests insist they want to build a new bigger and better one, they are constantly asking for money at Sunday mass. What gets me is they have a nicer car, a bigger and nicer home, they go on 3 or 4 vacations a year. I don't, I haven't been on vacation in years......what do you think? Is your church like this?

Update:

Thank you for some wonderfull answers.....I am just so frustrated at my church. I don't think they act like Jesus Christ would act.

Update 2:

spiritroaming....I will e-mail you and anyone else who wants to know the particular church.

No!!!! I don't ask for money and I am a traveling Evangelist. That is why I laugh at the questions about Evangelist asking for money, because they see one doing it and judge us all. But to answer your question when I am home I go to a church and they do not ask for money especially for new buildings or anything of that nature. They take up an offering but that is it.

    Hope this Helped God Bless

No at my parish we know that we are to give from the heart. We know that several times a year there are other things that need funded and we all give willingly to such things as Peter's Pence, World Mission, etc. My priest goes on vacation twice a year for 10 days each time. It does not bother me that he gets 2 vacations a year, after all he does work 24/7/365. He drives a vehicle provided by the diocese and lives in a home provided by the diocese.

Nope my church never asks for money. We are lucky in the fact that the congregation so freely and willingly gives money to the church that we can afford to help out many people and still make upgrades and repairs when we need to. I am an atheist that attends church. I would never go to a church that makes me feel guilty for the amount of money I donate.

I think you should change churches. I attend a church where there is no "basket" passed around, just a box at the back of the santuary where you can place your offerings. No one watches to see how much you put in or if you put anything in. No one asks to see your tax return to find out what you made to make sure you are tithing 10%. I am free to give what I can, when I can.

No. At my place of worship and fellowship, we have a collection box at the back of the auditorium. If one wishes to place their tithe or offering in the box, he does. If not, nothing is said. People give and we always have enough to take care of the needs of our church and our community.

They can ask all they want from the people, we are supposed to pay titles and offering. My church only ask for extra money if we had a visiting preacher, which he give him a love offering. Pastor can't take what you don't give them.

It's not just the catholics. It is all of them. They are all beggars of the worst kind. Begging for money week after week. It's pathetic. I don't know what their deity is doing with all that cash except to aggrandize its ridiculous beliefs.
