Is Blockbuster a Monopoly, Oligopoly, Monopolistic Competition, or Perfect Competition?

    i would say they are a monopolistic competition because they are competing against netflicks and famliy video.

    i would say an oligopoly as there are other video markets out there besides blockbuster. They are def. not a monopoly and do not have the characteristics of perfect competition because they can control how much they sell their movies and games

    They certainly occupy the most real estate not unlike a Wall mart or anything that you see repeatedly while driving along America's freeways. We are becoming a nation of almost suicidal verisimilitude, every corner that you turn there is yet more of the same- this is a tool of regimentation, a denial of individuality, a subservience to an oligarchical, corporate culture which seeks only to reduce the common man to a mindless slave- Oh, brave new world.

    I would argue that it used to be part of an Oligopoly, but now its in Perfect Competition because of all of the possible competitors, including NetFlix, Apple, etc, etc
