DVD region problems in Windows Vista?

I currently live in Europe, but own DVD's from both N.America and Europe. It tells me I only have 5 region switches...is there any way around this total BS!?! I thought perhaps using a program like VST Media Player would work, but it still doesnt... In canada I owned a "region free" dvd player, but are there any computer programs that will work the same way??

thanks!!

Okay I've revised my previous statement...

www.slysoft.com will give you the tools to watch the PAL or NTSC video on your computer or home video player without any region or making any dvd you use region free.

here's the catch..it removes the region lock so that your home device doesn't need to match up with the movie however..

The second thing is the video format.

    Either NTSC or PAL.

These aren't security measures but rather the video type your unit uses to display the video.

NTSC uses 30 lines per second

PAL uses 25 lines per second.

    NTSC - American

    PAL - Europe, etc, etc.

You can use AnyDVD to remove the region lock from your movie but if you want to watch an American (NTSC) video on a Europe type TV (PAL) then the video is going to have to be re encoded to fit the device.

Total Video Converter is the software that can take your NTSC video and convert it into a PAL video format.

Once you have done that you will need to burn the video to disc.

CloneDVD or any other video burning software is what you can use to burn the video files over to the new DVD.

CloneDVD may be able to compress the PAL video to fit onto a standard 4.7 DVD disc but you may lose quality. You may have to use DVD DL disc that are 8 gigs to convert your NTSC videos over to PAL. But when going from PAL to NTSC your fine to use standard 4.7 DVD+R Disc.

    Hope this helps.

Here are the links to the software that I have listed:
