Obama vs McCain, race vs. sex?
I like both candidates. They both have good points and bad points. NO candidate is perfect. But I am appalled at the number of people that have cried racism as a means to an election and the HORRIBLE comments that are being made. America, shame on you!!
And we wonder why Ameica is in turmoil!!
I'm just curious there's been a lot of really awful things posted on this forum about the electiong results and this being a matter of race. I'm wondering would you all have said that McCain only won because he had a female running mate. What if Hillary was still in the race and had one, would it have been only because the fact that she was a woman?
We're never going to make everyone happy. Remember when Bush won the first time, Gore actually won the popular vote and look where we are now.
appauled, so voting was up. Women's voting was up too. And McCain didn't win. Also you can take every Black American and have them vote and that alone was not enought to make him win.
Perhaps YOU need to check your figures as well!!!
Better luck next election though!!!
Jerry, I'm not sure what you were trying to say. who wouldn't want to end racism??? That's not what I was asking.

When, in our lifetime, have we ever seen so many come out to cast their vote....sorry, not since the Kennedy's and you can't convince me it's just because of the debates, speeches or promises Obama has made. Face up to the facts, it was based on race and the fact it became a historical event; and yes I truly believe if it was Hilary up there, it would have been because she's a woman plus the fact that no matter what he did, people did like Bill Clinton.
I agree with you, I like both candidates. I believe McCain is strong yet could have gotten us in a lot of situations that were unhealthy. He wants to change the world yesterday. He's blunt and up front with his ideas and the way he feels about issues and sometimes he speaks without thinking.
As for Obama, his President Elect speech was excellent but he still hasn't sold me. I regret having to say this, but I really think he needs to watch his back or he's not going to last long. In the state this country is in and with the White Supremacist's up in arms already..I wish him the best on that one.
As for racism, I'm just sick of hearing it. A person's skin color should not deter from their personality, ambition.

This election was almost solely based on race. Many of the new voters were black adults that had chosen not to vote in the past for whatever reason, but chose to vote this time because a black man was running for president. I can understand the pride of having a black president, but face the fact and be honest about it. Most of the black community voted for him because the color of his skin, not based on the issues.
As an American I can not believe America chose a man that publicly admitted to having never been proud of our country before being nominated for presidency over another man that risked his own life proudly defending our country by serving in the military.
I just hope America didn't make a huge mistake. I guess we will just have to wait and see whats to come.

It may just be me, but it seems that many people that are excited that Obama won, only care because he is America's first African American president. This race shouldn't be determined by race.
I'm not sure what to think about Obama yet.
Time will tell.

It's a sad day in U.S History. When a president is chosen based solely on his race.
You should all check your numbers in the polls, black voting was up more than 70 percent than any other presidential vote in history.

I voted based on who I thought would do a better job, not based on Obama's race or Palin's sex. I wish that everyone would be able to do that.

All I know is that I will NEVER call Obama my President... Do people REALLY think he is going to pay our gas, house insurance and heath insurance, if they do they are very very very stupid.
