A letter from Australia?
I have just watched the faces in the audience of president Obama's speech and I was moved beyond measure by the optimism and hope on those faces. This is a chance for a new start and for America to rejoin the World in a constructive way forward.
Here in Australia, we have been hoping for a Democrat victory because we think it's good for the World as well as America and will lead to a more equitable America.
The speech echoed our hopes for the future and one that will go down in history as one of the greats. Cooperation and inclusion instead of division and exclusion came out of the speech and an excitement that I haven't seen in America in decades

I'm hoping that this shows the world, that is has been our current government who has done th damage, not the American people, who alienated other countries and created the distrust that's so widely spread right now.
Americans finally woke up and saw the truth about what was done to us. And knew we had to change it. Now we have and are looking forward to how Obama will give us our country back and lead us to the 21st. century, bring back our allies and respect we once had from other countries.
We are the world leader and owe it to the world to lead righteously, with dignity, caring and hope for all, yet be ever so humble.

Those of us who voted for him are very happy that he has been elected. He can't change everything tomorrow but I believe his is the calm, steady, hand that will help shape our future to be better than how the last administration has left us.
