Should all clothing stores provide plus sized clothing?
Is it not wrong that plus sized women should have to buy their clothes in certain stores? Why do they not have the opportunity to shop in every store on the high street? And I'm not talking plus sized ranges - I'm talking about the same kinda clothes, available in more sizes - 18,20,22,24....
Why do you think high street stores do not cater for plus sized women?
It amazes me how people can be so judgemental and cruel over a question like this.
For your information - I'm not fat at all - not even in plus sized clothing or near to it - I just think it's damn unfair.
And anyway - I would rather way a tonne than be as judgemental and spiteful as some people.

The first comment is very rude. And should not even be acknowledged. The average woman is a size 8 or above which is absolutely beautiful.
In an ideal world every store would carry plus sized clothing but that's not always the case because we do have a free market economy.
I think it's the choice of the clothing store what type of clothes they want to carry. It should be based on business, would they have a viable enough market to carry plus size clothes and if yes then they should do it, if not then it should be their choice not to.

Im 19, and over the past couple of years Ive gone from a size 10 to a size 18! Now Im size 14 and the only thing that actually encourage me to lose weight was the fact that soon I wouldnt be able to fit into all those clothes out there that I NEED!
I know it sounds shallow, but it was a real incentive...like, If drop a few dress sizes then I can wear blablah and look good in it!
I know there stigma attached to buying from plus size stores but i know for me, and a lot of other people, if mainstream stores started carrying like, size 20 + ( i know alot of shops do...but their not exactly quality clothes,,,,,like asda..) I wouldnt have been so determined to lose weight! And its not just a shallow appearnace thing ... i feel a lot more healthier... X

i understand where you're coming from, the problem is that some stores don't feel that it's worth it to them, to make bigger sizes takes more fabric, which means they either charge more for the clothes, or make less of a profit on the plus size items. if they charge more, i think a lot of customers would complain "how come the size eighteen costs more than the two?," but if they don't charge more then there is more of a potential for them to lose money. there are some stores like the gap, and old navy that have larger sizes, but i think it will take a little while before most stores take the leap, hopefully in the next few years it will happen though!

I think more stores should carry plus sizes and just bigger sizes. For instance, stores should sell sizes 16-18, a lot don't. And I'm not talking about the plus size 16W, but the regular size. And yes there is a difference! They should sell both 14 W, etc, and 16, 18, etc...
I am a size 16, not because I am fat, but because I have big boobs. You have to dress your body for the biggest part of you, so I need that size. Maybe girls who need plus sizes are the same way, maybe its not because they are fat, but because they need a longer shirt, or something that covers their bust better.
But a lot of plus size stores don't get that. They sell boxy things that don't flatter at all. And the regular sized stores don't get that either. They go along with the attitude that if you take a larger size, you are obese and therefore must lose weight, or that you are shaped like a box.

I'm a 22/24, and while I hate shopping for clothes, and having to 'shop around', I don't think that shops should HAVE to include plus sizes in their range at all. In fact, in places like MK1, I don't understand why they even bother, because they don't seem to realise that larger ladies tend to have larger busts and make the plus size clothes to all the wrong proportions anyway!
To be honest, if every shop stocked clothes up to a 26, wheres the incentive to do something about a weight problem? People shouldn't be that large, I certainly shouldn't weigh as much as I do, and one of the main things pushing me into getting healthy and losing weight is the fact that I can't just walk into any shop and buy what I want!

No - Look at basic marketing and economics
Some stores cater for a certain age/look that would not fit in with plus sized clothing. The store simply would not sell many sizes 18 and over. It would not be profitable for them to do so.

I am on the larger side myself and no I don't think they should. What I think is that there should be more stores that cater for larger people. Stores that carry flattering, fashionable clothes that are trendy and desirable to be seen to shop in. I don't want to buy hot pants and skimpy tops, I don't want to get changed next to a size 8 trying on the same outfit as me an looking miles better in it, neither do I want to feel shame as I skulk into a 'plus size store' that stocks tents!

yes, stores should supply more plus sized clothing! just because you may be bigger than some girls doesn't mean your clothes have to be ugly. the amount of times you see in stores different clothing for bigger women is huge. you may be a plus size just because you have big boobs and that does not necceserily mean that you are fat. you shouldn't feel you need to lose weight just because the clothes made for bigger women can be hideous!!!

Because the people that own those stores are probably skinny stuck up bitches! I am a plus sized girl myself and I am tired of shopping at Fashion Bug, Lane Bryant and The Avenue! I want some jeans from Easy Pickins and BeBe to. And why do all the clothes for fat people (both guys and girls) come in such bright colors????? Stop with the bright orange and pink shirts! Ok were fat and that's our fault but you don't have to help us point it out to everyone by walking around looking like the sun or the Kool Aid guy!!!
Misty Dee has a good point though!

You make a good point here.
I myself am a mature woman who stands only 4ft high in stiletto heels and boasts a comely 80-79-88 figure. I find it nigh on impossible to find suitably sober garments for a bird of my age (I am 80something) and so I am forced most days to wear nothing but a leather thong & nipple tassels. As you can imagine, this often makes everyday tasks like weeding the lawn and visiting my bank rather awkward.
Thanks for raising this issue!
