Does Tea Tree oil treat mange in dogs?
I have a two year old yellow lab/shar pei mix with what I think is mange. I have another dog that had mange when I got him as a pup. The treatment was $80 a pop. He had to have six treatments before it went away. I was told that Tea Tree oil concentrate would clear up mange. Can anyone confirm this?

No mange must be treated by a dip, take it the humane society if you can't afford to pay a vet. Tea tree oil will only hurt or kill the dog if you put to much on him and the Human Society will be thankful that you did something to help it. I've heard of dogs being burned by oil, gas, and tea tree oil will burn the dog as well. They will dip him and explain to you how to make sure it never comes back you will have to wash all of his things, crate, pillow, toys etc. I can't imagine the discomfort he must be feeling right now totally itchy, itchy itchy. Please help him the right way. **** luck. Mange is a tough little mite that has to be gotton rid off correctly.

No, it does not treat mange at all. Mange is a parasite. Tea Tree oil is an antiseptic. Antiseptics don't treat parasites. Take him into the vet and get him properly diagnosed and treated. There are different types of mange and treatment and outcome for each will vary.

No, absolutely not - you need to get the right meds for whichever type of mange this is (there are 2 kinds, skin scraping will show which).

no it does not treat mange.
Essential oils should not even be used in their pure form, much less a concentrate! You will just burn your dog's skin if you use it!
