Did Proposition 8 ban gay marriages in all states? Or just CA?

Also, I was wondering if Prop 8 nullified all the previous gay marriages in CA, like Ellen Degeneres' marriage. Do gay marriages in the past not count for anything anymore? Just curious.

Prop 8 was a state proposition amending the CA Constitution, not the US Constitution. However, they passed a similar law here in AZ as well as one in AR that also bans gay adoption. I love how it is so easy in these states to actually write discrimination into their constitution. I don't think it will nullify the already married couples, I believe there is still some debate on that. The state attorney general, Jerry Brown, has said those marriages will remain valid, although legal challenges are possible.

At the moment it is just CA. There are other states in the U.S. that have legalized gay marriage. But as it relates to CA it has been banned for the moment. Also anyone who was married in CA before the ban, it still counts. But the vote against gay marriage happened sometime yesterday.

Only California. Other states have to have their own propositions. Arizona's was 102 and it passed as well.

I believe that all gay marriages done before the vote are grandfathered in, meaning they are legal. How ever the marriages between November 4th till now will probably all be protested in court.

Prop 8 overturned the legality of Gay Marriage in California.

It is no longer legal to get married in California. Just like MOST states.

They don't know if the marriages already done will remain legal. They're going to have to figure that out, they said. They have not yet decided that.

Only California. But Arizona and Florida also passed gay marriage bans easily, and Arkansas passed a measure aimed at preventing gay adoption.

It was only in California and YES, the prior marriages will be rendered invalid.... JUST AS they were in other states who turned-over their "gay marriage" allowances.
