I'm a democrat and I do not like Rahm Emanuel. He is not a team player nor a partisan "lap dog". He is a danger to Obama's team unless Obama is strong enough to keep him on a leash. Everything in Emanuel's world is secondary to himself. He is a strong and capable politician and will not be happy being anyone's second or third banana. Makes me wonder what Obama was thinking when he chose him

I don't think Rahm is a good choice. A better choice would be someone like Leon Panetta, though I don't have anyone specifically in mind.
Rahm Emanuel would be the "bad cop" to Obama's "good cop."
Emanuel hand picked Democratic candidates for the House of Representatives. Emanuel was appointed by then House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to serve as Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Under his leadership, the DCCC expanded the Democratic Party’s reach in every region of the country. Democrats gained 30 seats in the House and ushered in a new Democratic majority in the House of Representatives in 2006 and added another 20 seats in 2008. It looks like Party loyalty was more important for those candidates than competency.
I don't like Emanuel's ties to Israel's Likud Party. However, AIPAC, loves this guy. I guess picking Rahm Emanuel shows that Obama is go-along get-along kind-of-guy. Nothing flashy, at least initially.
In any case there won't be Middle East Peace so long as Rahm Emanuel is Chief of Staff. Then again, his hero Menachem Begin did sign the 1978 Camp David Accords that brought peace between Israel and Egypt and it's possible that Likud has finally realized that Israel has far more to gain with peace than with continuing war with the Palestinians.

It goes against his plan for uniting the country. Emanuel once told the Republicans to go eff themselves. That's change, just the wrong way.

Interesting choice. A free market capitalist and centrist with a very different temperment than Obama. Should make conservatives relatively happy.

No. Emanuel is a left wing extremist. It's just proof of how Radical Obama is, and how he has no intentions of being moderate.

i agree with Ruth...it makes me sick to see all of this stuff unfold! In the next few years Republicans will get to say 'I told you so!' unfortunately, we will all reap the consequences of Obama being president, not just the people who voted for him.

He makes my skin crawl, but so does Obama. Birds of a feather and all that.
But it tickles me to see that at the end of the day, "change" means democrats as usual.
