Why does my AC unit still run when the inside switch is in the "OFF" position?

I have a SEER unit and I know nothing about AC's. I do know I have the unit turned OFF from the inside digital box. I notice every once in a awhile, air flows from the inside vents. It's only on for a few minutes and it goes back off for quite awhile. I've actually noticed this three times and we just turned the unit off three days ago.

Update:

Just a note: the air flow I feel is not cold or hot air, it feels like fan air. I don't know if that makes a difference and the brand is Carrier and it's 3 years old. Thanks.

That is the way it is supposed to work, it has to slowly cool down. the parts of the unit get hot and it has to slowly stop

SEER stands for seasonal energy efficiency ratio...it's not a brand.

    Look on your unit again.

This is not normal. It could be a bad thermostat. If you are lucky. If you are not so lucky then it may be in the blower control board.
