Is there anything morally wrong about having numerous children?

Is there anything to be questioned about the morals of parents who produce seven, eight, nine children?

Update:

Couldn't agree with you more, FB.

Absolutely. To intentionally bring that many children into the world when there are so many abandoned or orphaned children already here is morally reprehensible. And interestingly enough, it's almost always the religious families that manufacture large litters of children like that. At the same time they're railing against abortion. Those people are obsessed with protecting the "rights of the unborn", but they're perfectly okay with leaving millions of kids to rot, unloved and unwanted, in the foster system or in institutions after they're born. It's the worst kind of hypocrisy.

Firstly cheating and hurting others. Using the other persons involved. Spread sexually transmitted diseases. People must think that they won't get a disease that it won't happen to them. These men may have a few accidents and have gotten women pregnant and not taken responsiblitly. Which they then may consider an abortion, even go through with it. Is this enough reasons for you????? There is more......Just look around you and see how people are doing this and what affects it has done in many societies in alot of countries around the world.

I think if people plan ahead of time and are able to have a plan to provide for those children than there is nothing wrong with it.

Had I known that I would end up with 6 (produced only 3 thank you) I would have bought a farm or something.

I think those people who do like in-vitro and end up with multiple births that they can't take care of is a problem.

It is not the large number of children (or people on the planet even) that causes such turmoil in society and the environment, it is the irresponsibility of people. The world (society and nature) would be a better place with 10 billion responsible people as opposed to 100 million irresponsible ones.

no, if you're having these children out of love and you have the means to support them and are not having them for selfish reasons (eg: getting money off the government), i dont think it is "morally" wrong.

it's the business of the parents and no one else's anyway, so if someone has a problem with it, they will need to get over it :)

Not necessarily. There is the extra resource consumption, of course, as well as the difficulty of supporting such a pack, not to mention the potential inequality in attention and support from the parents. However, rich, fair-minded, green-conscious parents could pull it off in a way that cannot be criticized as immoral.

" Like arrows in the hands of a warrior

are sons born in one's youth.

    Blessed is the man

whose quiver is full of them.

They will not be put to shame

when they contend with their enemies in the gate."

    Psalm 127:4-5

Children are a blessing. I feel if you have the finances and patience for multiple children, then it is great!

Nothing wrong with having numerous children....as long as the parents can provide for them and properly take care of them.....In my grandparents day....people had many children...and I don't believe it made them immoral people....

No, I don't think there is anything morally wrong with it.

I only have 2 and only want 2, but each of us has the right to choose.

It's a tricky question. I think heedlessly pushing population growth is bad for sustainability. So it could be considered irresponsible, and therefore immoral.

But if they are able to care for them here and now, it's hard to condemn.
