TROUBLE GETTING FINANCIAL AID?
I applied for the local college, and once again was denied financial aid. Before filling out the last of the paperwork I was told I was getting 5000$ in a pell grant (woo!) but 2 weeks later said my EFC was 20 points above (needed a 4442 had a 4462). I dont understand how it changed when I did nothing!
Guess my question would be this: everytime i apply for the pell grant (i fill out the fafsa online) it says I'm just above the EFC and can't be accepted. My W2 hasn't changed any. I can't afford to pay tuition every semester with rent, insurance, and household bills taking most of my check (i live alone and support myself). I also can not survive on part time or take a second job b/c of time. How can I overcome this obstacle and receive a pell grant?
Ive talked to FIN. aid consoulers and they are the ones giving me this run around. nothing more then being sent around like the everlasting snake biting it's own tail

Maybe your doing something wrong or Maybe the system is doing something wrong i suggest that you speak to a financial aid counselor and get help. Do not let them blow you off. Make sure it is explained to you so you can understand. It is their job.

Go talk to the schools financial aid department. Maybe they'll know more. I remember when my brother applied for financial aid they denied him because he made too much money the year before (when he was in the Army). However, he explained to financial aid that he was no longer in the Army and currently a full-time student who is unemployed. They changed the numbers for financial aid and he got what he needed to transfer to SDSU.
Go talk to someone at financial aid. Just because it says no online doesn't mean you can't change it. However, If I were you I would only use financial aid at a university not Junior college. It will keep your debt down.
Goodluck.
