New cell tower near home, will it work for my phone plan?

I am currently with Unicel (Oregon) and another company (US Cellular) is putting up a tower 2 miles from my house. Will my phone go off that tower? I only get 2-3 bars currently.

    2-3 bars is good coverage.

    the networks have to be the same kind (example, CDMA), and the two companies have to have an agreement to carry the others calls/SMS/MMS
