ok what u need to do actualy depends on what kind of paranormal investigator u want to be example:
if u just want to find evidence of ghosts then i would lern to use a camera and stuff like that i would also take a class that helps u use computers so u dont have to hire ppl to clean up evedence u find for u.
if u want to comunicate and talk and sence them then i would take a meditation class in addition to all those things so u can clear ur mind to sence things. thats all i can think of right now but im sure im missing a few things ill add them if i think of them

There is no sort of formal education available. You can
read a few books or websites about it and get a general
idea, but being a good detective is harder than most of
them describe. For example, how would you go about
doing research on who lived in a house many years ago ?
What records would you want to see and how do you
get access to them ?
Forget the infra-red cameras and the EMF detectors...
that's a lot of expensive high tech gear but not what
you really need. There are certain senses that you
either have or you don't...
And finally, what do you do when you find something ?
Nobody has much to say about that. As a Priestess
it's my job to deal with this stuff, and I get called into
these suituations a lot. I have the ability to deal with
it, where none of the "investigator" types do.
So what I'm saying is, this isn't an ordinary business
like being a detective. We have too many amateur
ghost hunters running around already, and not one
of them has ever done anybody any good. If you think
it's fun, think again. It's one of the most unpleasant
things you can ever imagine, and best left to people
like myself who have been given a power to deal with
it and still be able to sleep at night.

Most paranormal investigators do so out of thier own pocket as a hobby. It isnt really a career field. If you want to eventually make it into a career, here is what you need to do. Start investigating paranormal claims. Really investigate, don't just assume everyones claim is paranormal. Also, don't get into pseudo-scientific concepts like unmeasurable energy fields, vibrations, chakras etc. These concepts are pretty much spent and only appeal to very ignorant new agers. Then when you have a bunch of investigations under your belt and some cool material, write a book. Selling the book is where your income will come from. If its intelligently written and you really investigated the sites and claims, it should be very interesting and easy to sell. Good luck.

Scared, but not like my buddy.
My partner and I would do a lot of camping. This included everything from winter camping and cross-country skiing to wilderness camping where you had to pack all of your drinking water. It was the end of autumn and the leaves had mostly disappeared off the trees when we took a hike in the upper peninsula of Michigan.
We had camped in this area many times in the past but this year it was a very dry season and there where “No Open Fire” notices all over the place. For the most part we took these notices seriously as the Constable and his assistant were extremely nasty when it came to enforcing the “No Burn” requirements.
Well, I would pull my sleeping bag into the weed line and my friend would Pop open the pop-up tent in the clearing. This night we decided to build a small fire even though the No Burn Ban was in affect. It was past midnight the fire was just burning enough to see two people walk into the clearing. As I said, I was in the weed line, which is where the tall weeds meet the grass.
They both had the same rough denim jeans that were rolled-up to the tops of their leather laced boots with large riveted pants pockets. They looked like thick canvas with heavy flannel shirts they appeared to be (please excuse the term Red Necked lumberjacks) each carrying a carbine in their hands. The one standing next to the fire was holding his rifle by the stock while the other was holding the gun cradled in his left arm.
I thought it was the constable and we had just been busted for a No Fire violation. I tried to sorta scoot further into the weed line when my motion caught the attention of the constable and his henchmen. The fellow holding the rifle lifted his meat hook, for a hand, and pointed the rifle right at me in more of a pointing motion then a threatening one.
At this point the larger of the two officials magically flipped his rifle over with one swift motion and brought it up to his shoulder like he was going to shoot. Before I could react my buddy in the tent yells out “Don’t Shoot I’m In Here!!”
At that, both of the fellows just slowly disintragated, they just swirled around the top of the emberred fire rising with the hot air to thinly disappear into the smoke. My friend scrambles out of the pop-up asking where they went and how could they miss at such close range.
That was the first time I shared a hallucinations with a person but not the last. We shared at least three more incidents but those are another story. The fire became history and for the rest of the night we discussed the happening in detail without any adequate solution. Suffice it to say we concluded that we had encountered a paranormal occurrence. This is the type of gift needed to be a paranormal investigator. What do you make of this? I mean it is a true occurrence one of many.

Dear friend,
Greetings in peace, love and light. You need basic knowledge in a few fields such as knowledge in IT, technichal stuff on equipments, basic knowledge on photography, videography and audiography and basic knowledge on standard and ethics for paranormal investigation.
Nevertheless, you are also should know why you are doing paranormal investigation - is it for hobby or spiriual grow. However, as Tom E said you need at least High School Diploma emphasize in scientific methods to ensure you investigation is valid or go for a higher degree in parapsychologists.
In peace, love and light.

The simple answer is you need no education to be a paranormal investigator. In fact the more education you get the less likely you are to think it's a good idea.

You don't really need a degree at all. However, if you really want to be good and professional, then a degree in physics or psychology would be the best route to take. They would allow you not only a foundation for research, but an understanding of the scientific process to ensure that your research is not cast aside as garbage like 95% of paranormal research.

A High-School diploma with emphasis on scientific method would be a minimum requirement, then you can branch out in whatever area you choose, as there is no formal degree requirements nor any U.S. colleges offering 'paranormal investigator' as a diploma. Because of the elusive and transitory nature of the subject, impeccable honesty and integrity are paramount, or you'll ruin your reputation. Scientific accuracy and good communication skills help. If you doubt yourself, you'll never convince others of your observations. Psychology is a good adjunct to 'investigator' status. Best wishes.

Try some parapsychology along with business and plenty of science classes, other than that you just need to build up a good reputation as an honest investigator and get the word out that you're available.
