Austrailians, I want to understand your history and see how it correlates to American history?

I think we probably have a lot in common historically

When the United States declared independence, Georgia, which was a penal colony could no longer be used. Botany Bay in Australia took its place.

Both countries developed as Democracies out of common British roots.

The United States and Australia have fought together as Allies in every major war since WW I.

    We have much in common.

You have very little in common historically. Australia began as a penal colony. It never had a revolution. Both countries tried to eradicate the indigenous peoples, and both had British roots. Other than that, each developed along a separate path.
