Is it normal to feel that you are at a disadvantage in this life?

Like somehow your humanity has been robbed?

Not to sound depressing. :o) Just curious if this is a common human emotion. That no matter how much you have you still do not feel that you have enough to be who you were meant or want to be.

Only for the 98% of the world's population who is conscious of what is happening.

Vast empires of human activity are dedicated to exploring or avoiding this condition. Philosophy, Politics, Religion and Cosmetology come to mind immediately.

Think about it. Philosophy seeks to find the meaning and purpose of life, even if it turns out that we are assigning that meaning ourselves.

Politics tries to improve one's own station in life, and having done that, to raise the level for other people, starting with your friends.

Religion says that if you only believe what we are saying and contribute generously, we will improve your status, even if it doesn't happen until after you are dead.

The entire cosmetics, hair and fashion industry promises that if you pay us money we will transform you into a worthwhile person, even if we have to lie to you to get you to believe it.

Avoid comparing yourself with others but thinking and doing things in moderation, would not give you undue stress and make you depressed all the time.Everyone has a unique nature and a set of skills, and some of these would place him at an advantage over a friend, relative, others. The idea is to be happy with your lot and to focus on your strong points or talent and use them to advantage. Also Life is a cycle of ups and downs, and nothing will be bad in a permanent sense. Have patience and the smiles will surely come again. :-)))

We will always have a disadvantage until we receive Jesus into our hearts. In this life, we were all born into sin. That is why God sent Jesus to us. So that we have a way out of the disadvantage in this life. His love for us human beings is unmatched and immeasurable. You obviously understand the concept, otherwise you would not have asked the question.

ps. to "friendlystranger65" - what if don't belong to any "religion" and you get your status, even if you are still alive?

Of course, no mater how much we would like to believe it we are not all created equally. Some people are just born with greater capabilities. Some people grow up in better/worse socioeconomically and need to work harder to get what they want and some people grow up and get everything they want.

The worse thing you can do is just go "Well, I'm at a disadvantage, **** it I'll give up". Just because you're born with a disadvantage doenst mean you cant overcome them.

Yes, i think this feeling is pretty normal for most of us some of the time. Especially when you see others who have so much more, however, i suppose we must believe in our fate and also hope for better things when we feel like this. And, if you already have "something", then treasure what you do have, because there maybe quite a few others worse off...

NO! This sort of feeling comes from a complex----obviously "an inferiority complex" that might force you to think unusual. Normally one should think that one is 'well paid', 'well accepted', 'staying in an advantage-position' etc.

I think it's normal for people to feel that occasionally. We constantly compare ourselves subconsciously and consciously. If it's an obsessive thought you may have paranoia or depression.

It could be normal but it is positively not good.
