Why is Obama planning to talk with Medvedev?
They have spoken and plan to meet soon (presumably before Obama is sworn into office). Apparently there are "urgent" items that must be discussed.
I thought I heard Obama say we only have one President at a time in his acceptance speech. So what is the deal? and what can we believe of what he says?
I am not presuming anything. The point is Obama does not know all the important items on the table and has no business assuming a power he does not have.
It was he HIMSELF, the ONE who stated he would not go into items that require presidential decisions when he said during his acceptance speach that "we have only one president" and I will not assume that position until January 20.
The question goes to the credibility of what he said he would do then and what it means today.
Not sour grapes or bashing, just a simple question for thinking people

Obama is still a Senator. Senators meet with foreign leaders often (it's just not covered that much in the media). There are protocols that he will have to follow through the State Department.

The reason is he is president elect and will be the one who enforces any agreements with any countries in the future. The lame duck president will no longer have any say in how agreements are enforced after Jan 20 2009 so there is no reason to confer with him on the direction they want to proceed with our country in the future.
He has not lied on any of his promises as yet and I would think you would allow him to get in office before you start tearing his policies apart.

If he left it until January, when he is sworn in, and something happens, then you're all going to blame Obama for not doing anything sooner.

Obama is going to be at the meeting and Medvedev want's to meet him. There is no rule against meeting some one......lol
