Hey Christians, when was the last time you heard of paleontologists and astrophysicists getting into a brawl?

Monks brawl at Christian holy site in Jerusalem

By MATTI FRIEDMAN, Associated Press Writer Matti Friedman, Associated Press Writer – Sun Nov 9, 12:06 pm ET

JERUSALEM – Israeli police rushed into one of Christianity's holiest churches Sunday and arrested two clergyman after an argument between monks erupted into a brawl next to the site of Jesus' tomb.

The clash between Armenian and Greek Orthodox monks broke out in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, revered as the site of Jesus' crucifixion, burial and resurrection.

The brawling began during a procession of Armenian clergymen commemorating the 4th-century discovery of the cross believed to have been used to crucify Jesus.

The Greeks objected to the march without one of their monks present, fearing that otherwise, the procession would subvert their own claim to the Edicule — the ancient structure built on what is believed to be the tomb of Jesus — and give the Armenians a claim to the site.

The Armenians refused, and when they tried to march the Greek Orthodox monks blocked their way, sparking the brawl.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said police were forced to intervene after fighting was reported. They arrested two monks, one from each side, he said.

A bearded Armenian monk in a red-and-pink robe and a black-clad Greek Orthodox monk with a bloody gash on his forehead were both taken away in handcuffs after scuffling with dozens of riot police.

Six Christian sects divide control of the ancient church. They regularly fight over turf and influence, and Israeli police are occasionally forced to intervene.

Dude, in the LDS church, and in the culture of america too, it was often portrayed as a good thing to win a BRAWL in physical wrestling, i guess people realized that physical strength didnt always prove truth or righteousness. if one was victorious. one must determine the truth through study and prayer, and by revelation of the H.G. as well as prophecy.

While many Christians have behaved badly, sometimes really badly, Christ specializes in turning sinners around. What other faith can boast of a Chuck Colson? A John Newton? A William Wilberforce? Then there are the innumerable soup kitchens, universities, hospitals, and orphanages founded to the glory of Christ. Also personally as a forgiven sinner, I testify to an imperfect yet growing sense of God's peace, presence, and provision since receiving Christ more than a quarter-century ago. Despite occasional setbacks, my faith has deepened and strengthened, whatever life brings.

This one is guessing that you haven't attended many of the seasonal parties and get togethers for the professors at the university... a few too many brandy alexanders and gloves often come off!

What is most comical about this story, at least to me... They are fighting about stuff they have no prof of. They can not even prove that it is Jesus' grave let alone that the Crucifix is the one he died on. Even worse they can not prove the guy who died was the son of god. He is not even the only nut that went around proclaiming to be the son of god.

Being a scientist is a matter of intellectual choice, not a spiritual one. Spiritual things go much deeper therefore are more likely to lend themselves to emotional outbursts of one kind or another. Check out what happens between two scientists when they disagree however. It is almost as bad.

A true Christian is not interested in a brawl. He is a man of peace.

Have you ever seen drunk scientists after a conference?

Actually, I've never seen a fist fight, although I have to think it'd be entertaining.

Uh....were humans..and we all make mistakes...I don't know why they'd make a big deal out of that..cause they were trying to defend themselves.

Dumb media that think they're always perfect and truthful.
