Sony Ericsson in Doha, what happened to Florida?

I thought the Sony Ericsson was held in Key Biscayne, Florida. Is this a different one? Commentators said something the other night about Venus never winning this, how so? She beat Capriati in Florida years ago. I was there at that match. I'll appreciate some clarity. Thanks in advance.

Venus did a good job, I'm proud of Vera as well.

Yes. Sony Ericsson sponsors both the women's tier 1 Sony Ericsson Open in Florida in March and the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha in November.

This was Venus' first year end Championships win. She rarely played the Championships at the end of the year either because of injury or lack of interest.

I watched that Venus/Capriati match on dvd. It was a good match. Venus saved eight match points to win that one.
