MZ RT 125 Irregular Idle What is causing this?

I have bought my wife an MZ RT125. The idle revs are Very irregular on it. I have replaced the rubber from the carb to the engine as this was cracked. I thought this would solve the problem but it hasn't. It ticks over at around 1500 revs but then creeps up to 3000 or so and then settles back down again. It does this whether hot or cold and at anytime. Sensible answers please.

well me,first thing ide do is split the carb and clean the jets...normally when the inlet rubber splits its very hard to start and it misses a lot.

Nope, its a carb problem. Normally Ive seen this happen when it has sat for a long time with gas in it. But It could be a module, however the odds of that are way to high.

If it sat for awhile then It only furthers my resolve. Drain gas, Carb will need cleaning. Hmmmm heres a link to check out.

    hope this helps.

When an engines idle is erratic, it means that the timing needs to be altered. You can also change the idle speed by turning a screw at the side of the card.

Check for a sticking throttle cable.
