Jehovah's Witnesses, If satan was cast down to earth in 1914 when Jesus took His position in the Heavenly ?

Satan has interfered in the affairs of humankind since Adam and Eve. It is only that since 1914 Satan and the demons have ONLY been able to interfere in the affairs of humankind and not in the affairs of heaven. For centuries, the demons did interfere with the angels in heaven.

.. ..(Daniel 10:12-13) [The angel] went on to say to me: “Do not be afraid, O Daniel...your words [of prayer] have been heard, and I myself have come because of your words. But the [demon] prince of the royal realm of Persia was standing in opposition to me for twenty-one days, and, look! Michael, one of the foremost [angelic] princes, came to help me

The question in bold alludes to this passage:

.. ..(Revelation 12:7-9) And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. 9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

Until the fulfillment of Revelation 12:7-9, Satan demonstrated freedom of movement between heaven and earth.

Then Jehovah said to Satan: “Where do you come from?” At that Satan answered Jehovah and said: “From roving about in the earth

Jesus himself personally noted that God's Messianic Kingdom would establish its reign first in heaven, and later upon the earth.

.. ..(Matthew 6:9-10) Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.

If you look at the book of Job in the Bible and read, it talks about Satan coming in and taking his station Before Jehovah. (Job 1:6,7)

Now it came to be the day when the sons of the true God entered to take their station before Jehovah, and even Satan proceeded to enter right among them. Then Jehovah said to Satan: "Where do you come from? At that Satan answered Jehovah and said: From roving about in the earth and from walking about in it.

That is when the two get into a conversation about Job. So evidently Satan was allowed to go to and from the heavens without interference until 1914.

From that time on he and his demons have been restricted to earth's domain until Jesus ushers in his 1000 year reign where he will be completely removed from mankind.

The reason things get so bad after 1914 is mention at Revelation 12:12

On this account be glad, You heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the devil has come down to you having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.

The bible shows that Satan did enter in before Jehovah. At Job 1:6 it says "Now it came to be the day when the sons of the [true] God entered to take their station before Jehovah, and even Satan proceeded to enter right among them."

As Vot stated, prior to 1914 Satan could enter into the presense of Jehovah and also had access to the earth. Examples of being on the earth prior to 1914, Adam and Eve and the serpent, the fallen angels who materialized and married angels, Job situation, Satan tempting Jesus on the mountian, woman possessed by demons that went into the swine. 1 Pet. 5:8 says "Keep your senses, be watchful. Your adversary, the Devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking to devour [someone]."

So saying the Devil is confined to the earth since 1914 is not saying he was not on the earth before that. As stated above there is proof that he was.

Rev. 12:9 & 12 says "Down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth, and his angels were hurled down with him."

verse 12 says: "On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time."

Jesus first act as king was to rid the heavens of Satan and his demons. That is the reason Jesus said "be glad you heavens and you who reside in them".

Satan has always"acted out" since the time of Adam and Eve, but as Rev. 12:12 shows his time is short and he knows that so he is working even harder now in the last days. He knows that when Armeggedon comes he will be abyssed for 1000 years.

On the issue of Satan being able to access heaven, remember that is his natural living area, just as the earth is humans. After losing that war, he was banished from his "homeland" to use a common expression today.

One of the statements after the war in heaven is this

“Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God!

Satan was continually accuses Christ's brothers before God, not doubt pointing out any weakness, mistakes, and poor judgment.

At the time of the war, there was no longer any time left to try to corrupt all of mankind, but bring about as much destruction as possible.

This is similar to the Nazi's attitude when they were in power.

Boastfully the Nazi Fuehrer Hitler had said: “The National Socialist Reich [Empire] will endure a thousand years.” But his police chief, Heinrich Himmler, was even more confident and responded: “Ten thousand!” Once embarked on his egocentric plan, Hitler would be satisfied with nothing less than world rule or world ruin. In the book The Last Days of Hitler, the author, H. R. Trevor-Roper, says: “It was always understood that Hitler would remain true to his original programme Weltmacht oder Niedergang,—world-power or ruin. If world-power was unattainable, then (it was agreed by all who knew him) he would make the ruin as great as he could.”

If you remember the Garden of Eden, Satan was able to be on Earth then and did a very good job of lying to Eve and got the death issue into play back then. Man was no longer perfect. Then Cain had his little hay-day and sin started to become rampant. You can follow it all the way down to today. Satan and his demons are very much with us today and back then also.

It must be stressed that even before that, when the wicked angels still had access to heaven, they were outcasts from God’s family and under definite restrictions. For instance, Jude 6 reveals that already in the first century C.E., they were “reserved with eternal bonds under dense [spiritual] darkness for the judgment of the great day.” Likewise, 2 Peter 2:4 says: “God did not hold back from punishing the angels that sinned, but, by throwing them into Tartarus [a state of utter debasement], delivered them to pits of dense [spiritual] darkness to be reserved for judgment.”

In marked contrast with their status as outcasts while yet in heaven, the wicked angels have exercised great authority over earth. In fact, God’s Word calls Satan “the ruler of this world,” and it calls the demons “the world rulers of this darkness.” (John 12:31; Ephesians 6:11, 12; 1 John 5:19) Because of his authority, the Devil could offer Jesus “all the kingdoms of the world and their glory” in exchange for one act of worship. (Matthew 4:8, 9) Clearly, then, when God’s Kingdom ‘comes’ as far as the earth is concerned, it will effect radical changes.

Do you remember the account of Adam and Eve? Satan the Devil challenged God’s sovereignty. Satan charged God with lying and implied that Jehovah was unfair in not letting Adam and Eve decide for themselves what was right and what was wrong. After Adam and Eve sinned and as the earth began to be filled with their offspring, Satan questioned the motive of all humans. “People do not serve God because they love him,” Satan charged. “Give me a chance, and I can turn anyone against God.” The account of the man named Job shows that this is what Satan believed. Who was Job, and how was he involved with Satan’s challenge?

Job lived about 3,600 years ago. He was a good man, for Jehovah said: “There is no one like him in the earth, a man blameless and upright, fearing God and turning aside from bad.” (Job 1:8) Job was pleasing to God.

Do you remember the account where the other angles came to earth and took wives? The Bible tells us: “When men started to grow in numbers . . . and daughters were born to them, then the sons of the true God began to notice the daughters of men, that they were good-looking; and they went taking wives for themselves, namely, all whom they chose.” (Genesis 6:1, 2) Who were those “sons of the true God”? They were spirit creatures, not humans. (Job 1:6; 2:1) How do we know? For one thing, marriage between humans had been taking place for some 1,500 years and warranted no special mention. So by drawing attention to the sexual union of “the sons of the true God” who materialized and took “the daughters of men,” the account clearly refers to something unprecedented, abnormal.

Your electric company doesn't have to be physically at your house for you to get electricity, and if a representative was sent there, does it mean you didn't Really have electric since they weren't actually there before? Satan evidently still resided in heaven Before being cast out. I hope this helps.

Satan had access to BOTH heaven and earth before 1914.

Now he can't go back to heaven.

Satan started ruling the world when Adam and Eve chose to listen to him instead of listening to God.

In the time of Job, Satan was roaming about here, but still attending meetings in heaven with the other angels. Some angels still associated with him. They were thrown down with him. They are what we call "demons", i.e bad angels.

In the time of Jesus (1st century CE) he showed that the world and its powers were under his control, by offering them to Jesus in exchange for an act of worship. Jesus did not deny "These are not yours to give!" He KNEW Satan REALLY did own those powers and COULD give them to him (Or else it wouldn't really have been a temptation, now would it?)

Like my brother has said, 1914 is when Satan was quarantined to the earth. So his intensified rage is concentrated on here. That is why world conditions get worse.
