Can you help me set a trap?

I work with about10 people in a small office. Over the past year we have had 100k dollar documents, cell phones, contracts, blank checks and computer info taken. None of these things have any resale value nor any pertinent business information, but the taking of these items causes great headache and wasted time for the person who needed it. Not to mention they are trying to make it look like it is the errors of one person in an attempt to get them fired. Don't know how to trap them or set them up to catch them at it. I have an idea of who it is but can't do anything without proof.

Update:

Setting surveillance cameras/taping is illegal without notification and once she knew she was being watched she would stop all

    Two words: Nanny Cam.

You need solid proof. Video will give you that. Nothing else will do.

We had a nosy supervisor who would go through this one person's desk on a regular basics. When she would say that someone was in her desk last night, he would have this blank look on his face. We decided to fix him. She put a rubber lizard in her middle draw, and placed a piece of paper over it.

One morning we came in and her draw was pulled out, and papers were all over the floor. From that day forward he never when into her desk or any other person desk.

I worked in another office and someone was always take things from people desk to cause confusion. We finally figured out who was doing it because she never complained about missing items.

We would wait until she would leave her desk and we would put things on her desk. She finally went to the manager and said that someone was steal office supplies and trying to blame her.

She could not take her only medicine, so that was the end to that nonsense.

Yes, surveillance video. Have hidden cameras installed and sit back and enjoy!
