andyyou are so right,after long battle with upshaw,the NFL agrred to meet with retiree's to work out a deal,upshaw went to goodell and told him not to,or he would make trouble. upshaw should rot in hell

No, I COMPLETELY agree with you. Does anybody remember when a lot of the players wanted upshaw out as their union leader? why? because he did what he wanted not what the players wanted. i have a newsflash for the world... "NOT EVERYBODY THAT DIES IS A GOOD PERSON!" he was a jerk. just because he died doesnt make him a saint.

They probably didn't think about it. Who plays those classic teams on Madden anyway? The retired players were just going after the deep pockets of the NFL because there wasn't anywhere close to the type of money that there is in the league today. No need to dis-respect Gene Upshaw he was a great player and great for the league.

The GU is there honor Gene Upshaw the player and all the good work he did for the NFL. The article in your link is related to a dispute within the NFLPA which is a union of active and former NFL players. That dispute has nothting to do withe the League.

Before Gene Upshaw the former players didn't get ANYTHING. So although I'd accept the argument they should have got more, read what he ALLEGEDLY said a little closer, at least he helped them get something. Now as to what he ALLEGEDLY said to they have phone calls or tapes or anything that PROVE the dead man said it? I mean if he can't defend himself I want real proof. Also about the whole end there he didn't tell them they can't put the players in, he said they would have to pay to put the players in.That is as much EA at fault as GU, if you want to claim he was at fault.

Upshaw got them something before they got nothing. Why should these old players who contributed nothing to the fund and took more cash up front get anything now? It is their own greediness to get more cash then and put nothing away for now that got them where they are.
