Help! 14 hour days are killing my feet, anyone have some recommendations?

I have to be on my feet 14 hours a day. By the end of the day my feet are killing me. I got fitted for shoes that help more but at night I limp and tiptoe around because the pain is so bad. Even in the morning I get sharp pains on the bottom of my feet. I've tried elevating them at night and epsom salt baths. I stand on concrete all day. Anyone have the same situation and found something that works for them?

I found arch supports very helpful. the ones I bought at the chemist were better than the supports I paid hundreds of $ for at the Podiatrists. Ortho-Bionomy, Osteopathy & Shiatsu are also very helpful.

I had similar symptoms after a recovering from sever burns and having to learn to walk all over again. What made the biggest difference was resolving the underlying stress. (See the Louise Hay book "Heal Your Body")

See a good EFT, NLP or Hypnotherapist. Or if you want to do it yourself learn Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or ZPoint and soon you'll be more relaxed. EFT is great for physical pain and has no negative effects Emotional stress causes muscles to tense and put your body out of alignment.

Oh and if your work aggravates the problem it's time to find another job. Be open to all the other options. I worked for a long time in retail, on my feet all day, and felt I had no career options. I had to quit for health reasons and now make a better income doing work I really love. One day you could see this pain as a blessing in disguise.

    I hope this helps

Some good suggestions posted here and what you are doing is a good start for sure...I would add that if possible, bring a foam mat to stand on, they are the sort of thing found in many workshops to relieve the pressure of standing directly on concrete. Are your employers giving you adequate breaks throughout your work day to get off your feet? Do they know this is causing problems and would they provide a more comfortable work environment if they knew?

There are some shoes called Z-Coil, you can look them up online. Many nurses wear them.

Seriously, check them out, they look at little different, but I hear people raving about them.

Also, forgot to add something...Try not to stand like dead weight on your feet. Move around and switch from heel to ball of foot often.

    good luck!

Sit down on a chair on the concrete. That will help.

get someone to massage your feet for at least an hour every day after work.
