Uploading Panasonic DV footage! HELP!!!!!!?
I have a Panasonic DV camcorder and I am trying to upload the footage I recorded. I would like to use the USB cord but i can't figure out how to load it on the computer. I have the firewire cord but the port on my computer is too big, its a 6 prong instead of a 4 prong. The port on my computer says 1394 and so does the cord but they don't fit together!!!! What do I do???????
The firewire cord I have is the same size on each end, they both fit in the camera....

If your computer has a "firewire" IEEE1394 port on it, you should be able to plug in your firewire cable. The firewire looks similar to the USB except that on one 'end' it is rounded. 6 wire / 4 wire shouldn't matter. The other end should be a mini firewire port to attach to the camera.
Using some sort of video software, just 'import' or 'use this device' or some such wording from a pop-up window after your computer recognizes the Video Camera -
Presumes you are using WIn XP
