I think back then they said "Jesus son of Joseph"
or "Jesus of Nazareth" rather than a last name
good question though!
God bless!

There were no last names in Israel (and many other places) during the first century. They used other forms to differentiate two persons with the same name.
* add a reference of the place the persons was origin of or lived at:
Jesus of Nazareth, Joseph of Arimatea, Saul of Tarsus, Simon the Cananite
*add a reference to his father's name with prefix Bar or Ben
Jesus Bar Yosef (Jesus son of Yosef), Simon BenJonah (Simon son of Jonah)
* add a reference to his trade
Joseph the carpenter, Matthew the tax collector
* add a nickname
Herod The Great, Simon Peter (Peter was originally a nickname meaning "rock"), Simon called the Zealot

His last name was Pantera. The tombstone of his father Tiberius Iulius Abdes Pantera is now in a museum in Bingerbruck, Germany. The Jewish Talmud recognizes him as being Jesus, son of Panther, or Yeshu ben Pantera.

This what I think maybe the case. If your teacher is muslim or something then Jesus name would be Isa Ibn Maryam Jesus son of Mary. But the truth is that he was also the Son of God , Yeshua Ben Yahweh. He is God as well. Look that is the only name I can think of if your teacher is muslim then that will be the name he is looking for.

I don't think people back then had last names.
They were usually identified either by their father or where they were from.
Ex. Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus by Joseph

People did not have last names then. It was only later that with 500 Johns in the neighborhood that they started to say John's-son meaning Johnson. Also, naming from occupation, location and physical characteristics. These names started around 1100 A.D.

Matthew called Jesus the son of David. ~ Matthew 1:1

Both Joesph & Mary were relative to King David.
