Help with exaggerated fight/flight response, please?
i have tried to have a very well-rounded education, be polite and courteous - while acting on a conscious level, but my fight response is too fast and too exaggerated.
As you know (if you know about this) this is an automatic response, but i want to be able to manage it. How?
For example, i was mugged a few days ago. Without even thinking it, i attacked back. Luckily for both of us, neither the mugger nor I were injured. I am aware i might have been killed, but the response is instant. How can i manage it?
And no, no adrenal gland/hormone problems. Neither bad anger management under controlled situations.
Thanks for your help.

Operant conditioning methods. A professional can help you with that.

OK. I am not Israeli, Jewish, or Palestinian. I am a completely neutral 3rd party. I have been following what is going on for quite some time over there. Mostly because I am an American defense contractor working in this area of the world. I have seen with my own eyes Hamas launching rockets into Israel during the cease-fire, and Israel sit back. I have seen Hamas launch rockets immediately after the cease fire ended, and Israel STILL sit back. Now Israel has had enough, and is finally defending itself. Who am I to say they are wrong. Personally, if I were being pushed around by a bully, after a while of trying not to fight, I would throw the punch too. I agree with Israel taking the offensive. Enough is enough from terrorists. It's not Palestinians that are being targeted, its Hamas. Unfortunately, like any fashion of war, there is collateral damage. I also say to the UN, who are you to demand Israel to cease fire. Where were you 2 weeks ago when 50+ rockets a day were being fired from Hamas? Why didn't you demand they stop? UN is a joke.

I suppose defending yourself is a bad idea. Next time you should lay in the fetal position.
