The decade of the 1980's????? and now in 00's? Musically compared...which you think is better?

Except for fashion, how great was the 80's for music, movies, everything... ?

I grew up in the 80's and I remember when MTV was in the beginning stages of being MTV, (mtv now sucks in my opinion, aint nothing like what it really was) Music Artists from Pop, to Rock, to Hip Hop/Rap when it was breaking ground ...were abundant, you couldnt stop the flow of talent pouring in from every different direction, the REAL talented music artists when you actually had to have talent to be in the music business, movies that became pop culture staples like Breakfeast Club,Top Gun, Ghostbusters etc... , computers were just in its infancy, Toys for kids in the 80's were so cool ...now your making movies about em ( TRANSFORMERS ring a bell ) just to name one

and now I can only think of a couple artisits on one hand that I think will last at least almost to 20 years if they are lucky.... all rap sounds the same, there is less originality to it, theres no good rock bands mainstream wise, and pop, and bubble gum crap has taken over where image is important more so than talent

Very sad!!!

Absofreakinlutely the 80's! The best part of my youth (20's) was lived in that time. I still listen to 80's music everyday! My kids rag on me all the time about my "cassette tapes"!

I lived in New York back then, in a loft in Greenwich Village. I remember seeing Madonna, Duran Duran, The Tubes, Dire Straits, The Plasmatics, The Clash, Dead or Alive, Simple Minds, Missing Persons, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Adam and the Ants, etc.... (I could go on!) at the underground clubs like Danceteria, The Savoy, The Mudd Club! It was the best! (These clubs had no printed names on the outside, you had to go by certain insignias painted on the outside of the buildings!)

My Goth lifestyle was discovered and nurtured in the 80's! I got to personally meet Peter Murphy of the band Bauhaus, and also Robert Smith of The Cure! ( I almost lost my freakin' mind!)

As much as there was cheesy stuff to be remembered, there was also a lot of things that warms my heart when I think about the 80's!

90s because of the fact we had MC Hammer, Salt n Pepa & Vanilla Ice. We additionally had 90210 (the unique sequence), dishevelled outfits and mind-blowing footwear. Im a new child of the 90s (began college in 1989) and that i enjoyed all of the traits. no person had a cellular telephone till i replaced into merely approximately out of high school - no information superhighway sucked yet then i assume we've been too busy rollerblading and watching clean Prince of Belair to be dropping time on facebook or Yahoo solutions haha.

First half of the 80's were great! Second half of the 80's had a lot of shitty music. Pretty much when MJ, Madonna, and"hair" bands started dominating music, it ruined the 80's as far as music.
