    2a * 4a = 8a ^2

Just because of the fact that you are multiplying the variable

    Hope this helps!

  • Because you are multiplying, you must multiply both the constant and the variable.

    2a(4a)=8a^2

No, 2a * 4a is 8a^2 since you are also multiplying the variable.

    2a + 4a would be 8a.

yes it is 8a because your variable (a) doesnt change so your simply left with 2x4 which = 8 then you put your variable(a) back in and you have 8a
