Help with a tattoo design?
I want to get a meat tag tattoo (dog tags tattooed on the ribcage area). I've known lots of people to get this done, but I was thinking of getting something that looked like my skin had been torn off to reveal my ribs (about 3) with the dog tags hanging from one of the ribs. I figure it would be a little bit bigger than the palm of my hand (the exposed rib portion), with the tags hanging 1-2 inches below.
I asked this before, but I think maybe the previous title was worded poorly.

If you're asking for input on whether it would look good or not, I think that it would look quite hard core myself. I'm assuming you would use some form of chain to suspend the dog tags from your ribs? If you want to stick with the traditional ball-bearing type necklace chain used, I would make sure to include the "connector" where it is slightly visible so as to offer a visual explanation as to how the dog tags could have gotten strung on one of your ribs, especially if the ends of the rib is not visible. Otherwise I like the idea...use some reds and white for where the skin is torn (white to show where the skin had been stretched) and make sure you get an artist that understands shading so he/she can do the depth your trying to convey in the tattoo well. Good luck. Personally the idea of meat tags is quite sound, and a more modern and dependable means of i.d.ing a KIA then the old Vietnam guys who used to lace one of their dog tags in the bottom tongue portion of their boot since their boots were the part that survived a blast the best.
