Game Boy? GB Adv? Nintendo DS? DS lite? HEEELP?

Which handheld game system is best? Who has better games? For a 6 year old boy's birthday, in your opinion which one?

Update:

Quenton - All the game systems are for sale right this very moment my friend! I just got off amazon and target.com, where I couldn't make the decision, so I came to you wise folks for help!

If your son has fairly good hand-eye coordination and has played games before, I would say a DS Lite. Original DS' are difficult to find and heavier, and he'd likely get tired trying to hold one up. It'd be extremely difficult to find new software for the GBA at this point, so unless you feel like bargain hunting online, that's not a good option.

Be smart about the software you choose. Look at reviews online at reputable sites like IGN.com and don't be fooled by licensed games. Many parents assume that because something has a popular brand name on it, it must be a good game and it often results in a frustrating game-playing experience for the child (many licensed games are extremely mediocre). For a 6 year-old, I'd recommend games like Nintendogs and Mario Kart DS, but it is extremely important to keep in mind that most of these games require a basic reading level to enjoy and some of the controls are complex, so be careful. Good luck!

In my opinion if a 6 year old could use a DS and play it's games, than the DS is the best choice. More funner games than the Game Boy Advance, or Game Boy. If you like want to save money...I THINK you should buy the Nintendo DS. Or for the better version, the DS Lite.

Totally the DS lite. It's my favorite handheld system and I've owned every one at some point. It's easy to hold and use and there are a lot of games on the market for younger children.

DS lite hands down. I mean if you buy your kid a Gameboy Advance you're practically putting him in the Dark Ages. With a DS lite, you get rechargeable battery, built-in game light, wireless gameplay, the touch screen, and you'll be able to play both DS games and GBA games.

The DS Lite is the only one of those on the market right now, it's your only choice and the only one games are being sold for

EDIT: Hmm, okay I thought you were stuck shopping at a walmart or something, of course that stuff is available. Video game stores like Gamestop, EB Games and any local game stores will still have what you're looking for. But only DS games are still in production. GBAdv games are still pretty fun to play and the GBA can play original Gameboy games, but the DS won't play old Gameboy games, only GBA games

GBAdv = Gameboy, GBColor and Gameboy Adv

DS = DS and GBAdv games
