What would be a good sound system for my 95 Jeep Cherokee?
Christmas is coming up and my parents said I can have one big item seeing that I am older now (19). I drive in my car 5 days a week to school (45 minutes away) and then back home. I also drive a lot with friends because I'm the only one with money for gas.
All in all I pretty much live out of my car and I would like a decent sound system for it. Does anyone have any ideas?
I have 2 Pioneer 6"x9" boxes for rear speakers. I could also go back to 6.5"x6.5" if I wanted to (those were the stock specs). My mechanic gave me MTXs in the front so I only need 2 rear speakers, maybe some tweeters?, a subwoofer and an amp.
I was thinking Boston Acoustic 6"x9" speakers, Dual 12" subs 1000 Watts each and a 2000 watt 2-channel amp. Would that be hella overkill?
Could someone who knows a lot about this help me out? Links to products would help so much guys. Thank you :)

first of all you can never have to much overkill..to be heard is to be loud!! and to be honest, dual yea cheap name brand, but you can still get a decent sound with them, it's like comparing a chicks a@# in rocky mountains to baggy tommy jeans...i prefer the rockies...if you want something that will raddle heads, i had a 97 4 door cherokee with 2 12" kicker sola barics, pushed with a 1000 watt rockford fosgate amp...it hit really hard..deep bass....duals will hit but you won't get that heart punching bang..so if it's clarity and deep bass go with the name brand, if you want something better than factory then any cheap stuff will do..heck i had a 500 watt rampage amp that was pushing 2 12" orion subs in an 84 camaro...but when i hooked up my 800 watt audiobahn it nearly blew out the back window...good components to check out...mb quarts, and polk audio for mids n highs...for subs....kicker, rockford fosgate, cerwin vega, jl audio, audiobahn ect...amps check out...kicker, rockford fos.., autotek, ppi, xtant, audiobahn, phoenix gold, sherwood..i'm old school some some of these may no longer be available

well i have won three states running for internal vibrations competitions in my club cab 2007ram 1500 with my pioneer radio running 1200 max amps two 6000watt rocky falls gates amps each powering 6 15"memphis alone so if 2 competition amps and 9 15"s isn't enough for me i definitely think yours wont over do it your just getting started wait till u have to install two16 volt batteries and two separate alternators to power it all i have about 25grand in my system its really addicting and fun when people can hear u coming from a quarter of a mile good luck and dont try to wire your first system alone its confusing but you will get the hang of it after a while.

You went from a great brand (Boston) to trash (Dual)...stay with the great brand,Dual subs are junk...stick with a name brand sub....Boston,Mb quart,Kicker,Alpine,Treo,Mmatts,Re,DD....etc.
