Is the risk of losing government jobs the reason we are not winning the war on illegal drugs?

I have talked correction officers and they tell me there are plenty of illegal drugs in prisons. It seems there are so many government jobs that depend on crime they are not really serious about minimizing or eliminating illegal drug crime. They would be out of a job.

I guess we are all part of a predatory world.

It is not a "war", and in any case it cannot be stopped.

Like every other multi-billion dollar business involved in international trade, nothing happens unless those in positions of power know and profit from it.

We're losing the drug war because there's a practical limit to how much the government can proscribe such personal vices, and the goals of the drug war are way beyond that limit.

But a lot of people will continue to support it, as long as there's other peoples' money to waste.

It would be like finding cure for cancer. Too much money involved!
