She probably didn't hurt it too bad unless she is whimpering, she may have pulled a muscle while she was running, that happened to one of my dogs once she was better by the time we had scheduled a vet appointment lol. I think if it continues for more than a day, call the vet so you don't have to pay and ask about it. If the vet cannot figure it out, go to him/her and get it checked out. In the mean time, see if Roxy flinches when you touch her leg. If she does, put and ice pack wrapped in cloth on her leg while she is laying down to reduce pain and swelling.

It could be because his/her leg is hurt. I would go to the vet to find out because my dog was not walking with her left leg and I took her to the vet and her leg was hurt. The best way to check if it's hurt is to go to the vet. I hope your dog will be ok! Good Wishes!

It sounds like a very common condition in Jack Russell Terriers called "Leg Perthes"
Legg-Perthes, also called Legg-Calve-Perthes (LCP) disease, is a disease of the hip joints of small breeds of dogs. The head of the femur (the ball part of the ball and socket) begins to die and disintegrate. This causes limping, and eventually arthritis. It usually appears between 6-12 months of age. It is treated surgically by removing the head of the femur and letting the muscles form a "false joint." It really does work.
Veterinarians have begun to address the heritability of this disease, and it is generally agreed that although in very rare cases, the disease may be brought on by trauma, it is probably genetic. It has been well documented in terriers (Border Terrier, Lakeland Terrier, Jack Russell Terriers, Wheaten Terrier), and has been proven to be hereditary in some breeds such as the Wheaten Terrier. Bilateral cases (both hind legs affected) are not considered to be the result of trauma, and are accepted to be hereditary.

They call that "favoring" the leg and it could be anything from a pinched nerve in the spine to a sprained or broken leg. Only an Xray done at the vets will show what the problem is.

She may have an injured leg, or a simple splinter in her paw. Take a look under her paw and look around, if she is in any pain, she will jerk away from you. If you can not locate a splinter, she may have an injury and you will need to take her to a vet.
Vets are the best, I wouldn't worry too much but you have to take her to make sure it is not more serious.

There is no way to know why she's not using it without a trip to the vet. Could be fractured, sprained, strained, dislocated, broken, torn ligament, luxating patella... The list is almost endless. Get her an appointment at the vet's for an exam and an X-ray and good luck!

Anything could have happened when she was outside! It's really hard to say exactly what it was! The only way you are going to find out what is really wrong with her leg, is to take her to the vet and have her leg xrayed!

You shouldn't walk him. When a human is in a cast, they're on crutches. Limit activity until the leg is healed. The sole purpose of a cast is to immobilize the leg.

Take her to the vet - she may need it operated on. Better act now than later before the pain gets too bad. If the vet can't see anything too bad then he will undoubtedly give you painkillers for Roxy .
Good luck for you and your dog!
