Opinion on Walther P22?
looking for my first gun, mainly for plinking. I definitely want something in .22lr, and i like the 'little big gun' look of the P22. something about the look of the mark III's doesnt appeal to me. also, if you could suggest a revolver that isnt over 350 - 400 bucks, that's chambered in .22lr, please tell me..
i'm 14, about 5 foot 6, and 140 lbs., i have medium sized mits (hands), so i figured i'de use one of the different palmwell adapters..
i know to buy these with the L prefix serial number or newer, and the A etched into the mag.
any other information would be great, like what kind of ammunition this little guy will chamber the best.. i know that they can be picky

Sig Sauer Mosquito...I think it a lot better than a p22. It is a little bit bigger but 10% smaller than a full size handgun.
I like the fit to my hand better as well.

The walther P22 is a good gun although some of them had trouble with cracked slides because they are zinc. I just picked up a Ruger Mark III 22/45 with the 5.5 inch stainless bull barrel for $320 plus tax and this gun shoots great. All .22's have ammunition preferences, you just have to buy different brands and see what it likes best. Personally my Ruger likes Federal bulk pack and CCI Mini Mags although it doesn't have trouble cycling anything else it just shoots these best. You will find that most guns will automatically fit your medium sized hands as that is what the standard is usually when a frame is made.

I've shot a Walther P22 that belongs to my older brother and it is a pretty nice pistol. As for me, I own a Smith and Wesson 22a that shoots pretty good that I picked up a while back for $100 less than what my local store wants for a Walther P22. Some other good choices are the Beretta U22 Neos and the Browning Buckmark.
As far as ammo, get the CCI Mini-Mags or the Federal Champion Copper Plated Hollow Points. These 2 will feed through any .22 auto and will burn clean in your gun.

The Walther is a fair gun, I don't think that it is the best value, but there are some fun attachments advailable.
As to a 22 revolver, look at the Taurus.
