MotoGP / WSB. Rider's & crewchief's .....?

After learning that Yamaha WSB rider, Ben Speis, will be joined by his Yoshimuri crewchief, it got me thinking.

http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2008/Nov/081114b4.h...

There really is a major link in the 2 been a team.

Jerry Burgess of HRC and now YRT, had a very close relationship with Mick Doohan and resulted in 5 titles. He as you will know, has gone on to win a further 6 titles with Valentino.

Pete Benson has been linked with HRC since forever and has seem them all come and go. When Nicky Hayden left, he asked Pete to follow him to Ducati, but was signed to HRC for 2009.

Warren Willing has always had Kenny Roberts SNR & JNR back covered, no matter what the project is.

When Colin Edwards II was winning in WSB he said a lot of his sucess was due to his crewcheif Andrian Gourt, now working with Suzuki ? I think ?

To sum up, how important do you feel having a top crew around you is ?

Vale took nearly all his HRC team to Yamaha & that seems to have worked out well !

Your thoughts please true fans ?

Hi Wiggysan, I think as far as Ben is concerned the second paragraph of the article sums it up nicely. its bound to save time too when the engineer knows the riding style and default settings already. I think its good news, bound to help him be competitive. Im looking forward to the mugello testing. I would have liked to see the whole Yoshimura squad taking part, but you cant have it all can you.
