No, because time changes people, along with life. And when you just get out of highschool your lifes just begun, it would be stupid to get married then because people can change so much from then to the next couple years. I sure as heck wouldnt.

It really depends on the individuals involved.

It does happen occasionally, but it's also a very early age to make a commitment to essentially existing as one entity for THE REST OF YOUR LIVES. You will not be able to make a decision without first consulting the other one. And you're 18, and there's a lot of growing up that happens between the ages of 18-25. You can make a commitment, but there's no need to rush into a marriage.

The only compelling interest for young marriage is the view often espoused by most major religions that one not engage in sexual activity until marriage. In that case, then it's not really a decision dependent on "intelligence" necessarily, but, rather, faith, although there is an occasionally blurring of the line between the two.

I dated someone all through high school (before freshman year started until we left for college).

We had a great relationship, but we were just kids. When you are older and you look back, it's like "damn, we had no idea".

I would never have married him...he was the only guy I had been with! Seems like a bad idea, but everyone is different.

IMHO, No, it is better to date several people. Chances are that later in life you may start feeling as if you missed out on something. That happens to a lot of people when they go through middle age. Better to sow your wild oats in your youth so you know for sure what you want.
