Should NASCAR let all 12 Chase drivers attend the Banquet?

I believe when the chase was formed in 2004, the Top 10 drivers and the 11th place driver, the first one that missed the chase, were allowed to attend the banquet and be on stage. When they changed the number of drivers from 10 to 12 in the chase, they didn't have the 11th or 12th place drivers in the banquet. Martin Truex, Jr. and Denny Hamlin had good years in 2007 but couldn't go, and now Matt Kenseth and Dale Jr. won't be able to go. I think it is unfair that they let a guy that missed the chase from '04 to '06 go, but now won't let guys that did make the chase go. What do you think? Should NASCAR let all of the chasers go on stage?

Dosent make much sense does it?

Only reason I can think, is TV time. 12 drivers just makes for a long program. But if you made the Chase 12 drivers, its kind of a slap in the face to the two who didn't get invited.

Be funny if Kyle Busch was 11 or 12th. Win all those races and still not get invited to NY.

They will attend the banquet, they just won't be able to get on stage and make a speech or anything.I agree that if NASCAR wants 12 Chase drivers, then they should let all 12 of them have their spotlight on the stage at the banquet.

Nascar will change the rules and let all 12 attend next year, since their

Poster Boy, Dale Jr. didn't make the top 10.

Like Jegs said, they probably will starting next year.

I'm fine with only the top 10 going though. If we are going to be stuck with the chase I actually preferred the way it was before, with only 10 in the chase and the 11th place driver getting a million and a spot on stage.

I agree if they made the Chase they should get to go on stage.I'm not a Kenseth or Dale Jr. fan but I think this would only be fair.

I'd say they all get to go but only the top 5 go on stage, most of their speechs will put anybody to sleep anyway..Its a boring banquet remember last yr it was a torture chamber..I'm ready for Dale Jr and the Super V8's in Aussie land..I'm glad my friends have a big dish USS way better than Direct TV or Dish, so I can get to see what is going on down under.. But no we do not need all 12 drivers on stage way to long.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

I heard Junior say in an interview that he didn't really care to go, because it was silly celebrating another driver's championship. And Matt, he'll probably use the opportunity to go dirt-track racing somewhere with Ken Schrader. So I don't think either of those two guys are too upset that they're not attending the banquet. Why should you be?

I defiantly believe that all 12 drivers should get to go to the banquet! It is not very fair to Kenseth and Jr

Both drivers have a good chance of making the Chase. Advantage would have to go to Menard in my opinion.

  • All 12 SHOULD go. If they changed the Chase from 10 to 12 drivers then they should let all 12 go.
