When we sleep why exactly do we close our eyes?

Do we close our eyes because we biologically have to in order to sleep? Is it possible to sleep with your eyes open?

probably to keep your eyes lubricated. and to block off external stimuli (light) that could interfere with sleep.

To say we close our eyes when we sleep is to say we have something to do with it but we don't. Our eyes close automatically. Whether our eyes are open or shut is controlled by the autonomic nervous system. The condition is involuntary. Although while awake we can close our eyes voluntarily as soon as we stop thinking about it they openand we do not have to think about keeping them open. As soon as we lose consciousness they automatically close. Closed eyes help us sleep and also they are less likely to dry out.

There are people who often sleep with their eyes partially open.

It is possible to sleep with your eyes open, but you really shouldn't try.

We close our eyes to protect them from drying out or particles contacting them. Our eyes are one of the most important organs we have.

to keep your eyes open it all takes energy,

we learned this in science class,

when you sleep your nervs start relaxing and the

energy slows down which makes your eyes to

    close,

No, because when your eyes are open, your mind is being as active as you running, but when they're closed you are resting your mind.
